Following its meteoric rise two years ago, OpenAI now officially launches its own AI-powered web search engine. OpenAI is enabling real-time information in conversations for paid subscribers today (along with SearchGPT waitlist users), with free, enterprise, and education users gaining access in the coming weeks.
OpenAI’s new ChatGPT search provides a different and less cluttered interface with an opportunity to challenge Google’s existing search engine monopoly with a different and more dynamic user experience.
ChatGPT search includes up-to-date information and unique visual designs in these specific categories:
- Weather, Stocks, Sports, News and Maps
Sources. ChatGPT search will cite its sources via inline citations and a Sources button underneath its responses (answers) to queries. Clicking the button opens a sidebar of links, called Citations.
DevelopersDigest has provided a tutorial video introducing a deep-dive into some of the main features of SearchGPT from OpenAI.
